so .. always forgetting how huge the barbican centre is i wandered around for a good half hour trying to find the stairs... wandered straight into a graduation.. and got lost once more within the crowds of adoring family members... pretty sure i made it into some of their pictures looking very confused and slightly panicked!

finally finding the stairs... without having to ask for directions although i'm sure it would of been a lot quicker.. i made my way up to the 3rd floor, where all was calm. the exhibition room, all tall ceilings white walls and sheer fabric pieces (that were very similar to the blinds hanging in my bedroom!) hung to screen off each part of the wonderful maze and create a soft clean background to showcase the beauty of these japanese fashions..

displaying japanese avant-garde fashion from the 1980's to now, the exhibition houses visionaries such as issey miyake, rei kawakubo and yohji yamamoto as well as works by the next generations including junya watanabe, jun yakahashi, tao kurihara and mint designs, all of whom challenge the established western notions of beauty and fashion and whose radical concepts continue to defy convention... please to excuse my dodgy sneaky snaps below... this exhibition is so so so worth a visit!! see all info below :] x

& the golden age of the ballets russes

1909-1929

held at the v&a until 9jan11 is the exhibition celebrating the legacy of the ballet russes. the exhibition rooms seem to go on forever.. you need a good 2 hours to take in everything properly!

the history of diaghilev.. the creation and transformation of russian dance and culture into the west.. his love affair with male dancer Nijinsky... the art.. the costumes and the influences that diaghilev's creations still have in on designers and artists now.. are all displayed here..

after 2 hours of sleep... and trying to prepare my nerves for this show everything was shattered when i was given a clipboard and guestlist and told to man the door to bloomsbury.. i could have cried.. standing in the cold trying to keep impatient and even colder people at bay who have either lost their tickets or assume that i am supposed to know who they are mer..

pre show..

after the doors closed i pelted down the stairs to make the start of the show! only realising as the quite moans and inappropriate noises that comes with charlie le mindu's show music started.. that my phone was on the other side of the room with about 100 people stopping me from getting to it.

front row filled with porn stars, strippers.. the lady made out of plastic with the little blow up dog (who's name escapes me at this moment in time.. i am shit i know). any one who has seen or experienced a charlie le mindu show will know that a love of fettish.. porn.. hollywood glamour and just sheer outrageousness leaves you contemplating what is accepted as appropriate and inappropriate.

hair..hair and more hair thongs and hair .. of course.. in bubble gum pink shades.. black and red. leather open fronted swimsuits with leopard print gimp masks.. nakedness and amazing headpieces.. my favourite outfit probably being the flamingo.. with the turban and little flamingo head was super cute!
